Project 36237 is a custom Alum-a-Lift engineered to safely handle rocket engines weighing up to 625 lbs. (306 kg). It provides controlled lifting, tilting, and powered 90-degree rotation, allowing technicians to move an engine from vertical storage or handling to a horizontal position for installation at the base of the rocket.
A custom three-hole adapter plate connects directly to the engine mounting features, creating a secure, repeatable interface for critical assembly steps. The system combines a 90-degree knuckle module with powered rotation, while multi-axis manual adjustments allow operators to fine-tune engine position and align mounting holes and fasteners accurately.
Developed to replace overhead-hoist handling, this solution improves stability, control, and ergonomics while reducing the need for manual pushing, pulling, or improvised positioning. The same approach can be adapted for aerospace, defense, and heavy-equipment applications involving large, dense propulsion or power units.
