Details

Moving RTP canisters by hand is risky in washdown environments, especially when space is limited by standard door and ceiling heights. Project 35403 is a custom Alum‑a‑Lift designed to handle RTP canisters laying on their sides, weighing up to 60 lb [27 kg]. Built from 303/304 stainless steel, the lift is washdown compatible, supporting regular cleaning and exposure to sanitizing agents without compromising corrosion resistance or structural integrity.

The application requires full orientation control, so the lift features 360‑degree rotation with a self‑locking mechanism. This allows operators to rotate the canister smoothly into the desired position and have it hold securely without constant manual support, whether for loading, unloading, or inspection. The rotational fixture is designed to support the canister laterally while maintaining a stable center of gravity, reducing the risk of slipping or uncontrolled movement during rotation.

To integrate cleanly into the facility, the lift geometry was tailored to clear 8 ft doorways and operate under 10 ft ceilings while still providing the vertical range needed to pick and place canisters from typical working heights. The compact stainless chassis and guided mast help maintain stability under load while keeping the overall envelope small enough for easy maneuvering through standard doors and corridors. Together, the washdown‑ready stainless construction and 360° self‑locking rotation create a dedicated RTP canister handling solution that improves safety, ergonomics, and control in hygienic environments. The same design approach can be adapted for other cylindrical containers and process canisters in pharmaceutical, biotech, and food applications where washdown compatibility and precise orientation control are critical.
