Project 35269 is a custom Alum‑a‑Lift cleanroom drum handling lift designed to safely handle steel, blue plastic, and fiber drums containing various liquids and powders in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This mobile ergonomic drum lifter and material handling solution maneuvers drums weighing over 300 kg (approximately 660 lb.) across epoxy‑coated concrete floors in areas producing lens care products such as contact lenses, prescription pharmaceuticals, and other eye care solutions, where frequent washdowns and aggressive cleaning agents are standard.

The customer’s primary challenge was a low overhead clearance at a key doorway, which prevented conventional cleanroom drum handling equipment from passing between rooms and still reaching the required working height. To address this drum transfer constraint, Alum‑a‑Lift engineered a telescoping mast drum lift that retracts to clear the low doorway and then extends to achieve the necessary lift height at the destination–allowing operators to move fully loaded drums between rooms without exceeding headroom limits while maintaining precise, controlled vertical positioning at filling, dispensing, and staging points.

To meet the facility’s stringent cleanliness and corrosion‑resistance requirements, the lift is built as a hose‑down washdown drum handling system capable of handling salt and other caustic substances, with primary structural and product‑contact components manufactured from 316 stainless steel for superior resistance to harsh cleaners. The cleanroom drum lifter is compatible with ISO 8 cleanroom environments and includes drum clamps engineered to support the lift’s full rated capacity without additional accessories; at the customer’s request, supplemental safety straps were added to the clamps to provide extra safety and restraint.
