Material handling solutions for government organizations and the defense industry

Engineered Material Handling Solutions

Alum-a-Lift is proud to provide engineered material handling solutions to numerous government organizations and the defense industry.

Manufacturing in the defense industry presents a unique set of challenges. The sensitive components to be handled are typically complex, high value, and relatively low volume. Off-the-shelf equipment often is insufficient to meet the precise positioning and fail-safe material handling requirements critical to your process.

Alum-a-Lift’s constructions are the most durable, safe, and reliable option for ergonomic, portable material handling. The standard chassis offers proven lifting power and allows for heavier and dynamic side loads. High capacity linear bearings can be integrated into any linear stage, including the primary lifting chassis.

Every handling system undergoes rigorous factory testing that simulates actual use, and extensive QC inspections are performed prior to shipment.

Seamless Integration

Due to their flexibility, Alum-a-Lifts can be found throughout the defense industry. Choose from complete handling systems or adaptors that can be designed to integrate a system with your existing fixturing.

Alum-a-Lift’s approach to lift design begins with the object to be handled and its distinct requirements. Non-marring contact surfaces, re-usable threaded inserts, tool-less interchange adaptors, positioning adjustments and “tweakers” are routinely included in areas of product contact.

Among the many defense material handling solutions we build are:

Work positioners with universal adaptor interfaces for lifting and rotation in assembly stations

Platforms, roller decks, and guide rails for loading modules, racks, chassis, and trays between thermal chambers, anechoic chambers, vibe stations, and other test equipment

Tong sets, grippers, and below-the-hook arrangements for crating and unpacking sensitive subassemblies and product

Large tandem dual lift systems for final assembly integration

Roll handling systems for carbon fiber prepreg, plastics, and laminates

Clamps and grippers for long, cylindrical sections and stages

Boom lifts equipped with tethers and other fixtures to handle molds, dies, fixturing, tooling, and other components used for fabrication

Portable, redundant vacuum systems for canopies, skins, glass, or other smooth components

Staging carts and racks for transport and storage between process steps
