Alum-a-Lift offers unrivaled experience in the design and construction of customized material handling equipment for cleanrooms of all types. Sample portfolios can be seen for specific industries, including:
- Pharmaceutical and Biotech
- Healthcare and Medical
- Science and National Laboratories
Having over 25 years’ experience in designing portable clean room lifts, Alum-a-Lift specializes in providing tailored solutions that are designed to minimize particulate emissions. Any lift system can be configured for clean room compliance. Even the most basic battery powered lift utilizes a clean, electric, ball screw drive suitable for Class 10,000 (ISO 7) clean room use. Based on the application requirements, Alum-a-Lifts can be easily configured for use in clean rooms rated to FED STD Class 10 (ISO 4). Built-to-order, Alum-a-Lifts are tailored to your specific requirements, presenting a perfect match in capacity, size, and functionality for your equipment.
Cleanroom lifts manufactured by Alum-a-lift are in daily use worldwide in more than 20 countries. Lifts can be constructed that are CE compliant or certified to other required standards, such as SEMI S2 or SEMI S8. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) concerns are understood and can always be addressed along with any other application specific requirements.
Pharmaceutical lifts are compliant with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) outlined by the US FDA. Stainless steel lifts and end-effectors are offered for any system meant to come in direct contact with drugs or other sanitary materials. Alum-a-Lifts are suitable for your cleaning practices, with stainless steel lifts configured for caustic cleaners. IP-65 lifts are available as well. Even our most basic battery powered lift is suitable for Class 10,000 (ISO 7)
Alum-a-Lifts can be configured to be used in environments containing ignitable concentrations of either dust or gas explosive environment and meet the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC. Explosion proof lifts can be configured with either an EE or an EX rating.
Handling devices carrying an EX rating are pneumatically-operated and Intrinsically-Safe lifts. EX lifts are compatible with ATEX Category 2 and can be used in the following hazardous areas:
US NEC 500/IEC Class 1 Div 1 and Class 2 Div 1
US NEC 505 / IEC Zone 1 (Gases / Vapors) and Zone 21 (Dusts)
Lifts carrying an EE rating feature sealed electrical systems and components. EE units are compatible with ATEX Category 3 and can be used in the following hazardous areas:
US NEC 500/IEC Class 1 Div 2 and Class 2 Div 2
US NEC 505 / IEC Zone 2 (Gases / Vapors) and Zone 22 (Dusts)

Alum-a-Lift understands that some of the applications have their own geometric challenges and an off-the-shelf system may not be suitable. Narrow aisle ways and tight constraints are expected, often resulting in the need for counterbalanced lifts or lifts with small footprints. For more complicated applications, where an extended reach is required and the resulting clean room hoist is heavy, a powered drive lift can be offered. These handling systems are often supplied with booms or articulated arms which can be multi-purpose and replace incompatible jib cranes or gantry hoists.
Alum-a-lifts designs also address real-world off-center loading conditions which are the largest contributor to failure in a light-weight lift system. Single mast systems cannot withstand side loading and will ultimately fail. Utilizing dual mast construction in standard lifts or linear rail construction to withstand heavier side loads or dynamic side loads, a rigid drive system is incorporated resulting in a much more reliable lifting device. Every lift and end-effecter under-go rigorous factory testing simulating actual use and extensive QC inspections are performed prior to shipment. Customers are welcome to visit and perform factory acceptance testing.
